How do I manage song projects in Rapchat?
Updated over 8 months ago

Projects in Rapchat are a convenient way to work on and organize your unfinished songs. With version history and cloud backups, you have full control over your creative process. Here's how to effectively manage your projects in the app:

  1. Starting a New Project: To begin a new project, simply tap the microphone button in the studio. This opens up a beat for you to work with. When you exit the studio, the project is automatically saved. If desired, you can edit the project name at this stage.

  2. Accessing Projects: All your projects can be found in the Projects Library on your profile page. Alternatively, tap the studio microphone button at the bottom of the app and select "View All Projects" to see a list of your saved projects.

  3. Working with Versions: Within each project, multiple versions are created each time you save your progress. This allows you to easily revisit previous versions if needed. To restore an older version, simply tap "Open in Studio" on the desired version. It's important to note that each version is automatically backed up to the cloud, indicated by a checkmark icon upon successful upload.

  4. Managing Local Storage: To reduce the amount of storage on your phone, you have a couple of options. Firstly, you can tap the checkmark next to any version to delete the local copy while retaining the cloud version. Secondly, if you want to remove all local files for an entire project, tap the three-dot menu and select "Remove Local Cache." If you no longer wish to save the project in the cloud, you can choose "Delete Project."

  5. Renaming Projects and Versions: Both projects and versions can be renamed for easier organization. To rename a project, go to the three-dot menu and select the rename option. For version renaming, tap the edit icon on the specific version and make the necessary changes.

  6. Downloading Projects from the Cloud: If a project or version is stored in the cloud but not on your device, you will need to download it first before making further edits or opening it in the studio. Simply go to the desired version and tap "Download."

  7. Artwork and Deletion: The artwork for each project automatically pulls the cover artwork from the beat used, as long as the beat is from the Rapchat beats library. Additionally, versions can be deleted by tapping the trash icon on the specific version.

  8. Auto-Save and Crash Recovery: In the event of an app crash, the most recent version will attempt to auto-save and can be found in the project view. This ensures that your progress is preserved even if the app unexpectedly closes.
