Collaborating with other artists can be an exciting way to create unique and engaging music on Rapchat. Depending on which app you have there are two ways to collaborate with other artists:
How to start a collab on iOS (Studio Collab Projects)
You can now add collaborators directly to any saved project and work together until the track is finished.
Open your project from the Projects tab (not inside the Studio).
Tap Add Collaborators.
Invite any Rapchat user.
All collaborators can open the project, record or edit tracks, and make unlimited updates before it's published.
This is ideal for building a song together across multiple sessions and voices — just like a shared Google Doc but for music.
⚠️ Note: Only iOS users can access and contribute to shared Studio projects. Android users will not be able to open these projects at this time.
How to start a collab on Android (OG Collabs)
Until full collab support comes to Android, you can still use the classic collab flow:
From the Upload screen, tap Invite to Collab before publishing.
Select one user to collaborate with.
They’ll receive a version of the song they can open and add one update.
Once they’re done, they’ll send it back and the song can be published.
This method is more limited (only one collab update, one user), but it still allows you to tag in a friend to finish a track together.
A few more things:
Once you send the collab invitation, the audio of your part is locked and cannot be edited further. However, you can still make changes to the data, like the artwork or track name.
Collaborators must mutually follow each other to successfully initiate and complete a collaboration.
Communication is key during collaborations. Make sure to coordinate with your collaborator to ensure a smooth process.
⚠️ We’re actively working to bring full multi-user Studio collaboration to Android in a future update.
