NOTE: changing the artist name on your Rapchat profile (in profile settings) does NOT change your artist name for Distro.
Your Distro artist name can only be created when you register. Once your artist profile is created, it's very challenging to change your artist name. However, there are two ways you could go about it:
Option 1: Delete your distro profile
We can delete your current Distro Account you can create a new profile and re-upload the music.
The downside is that this will remove your releases, existing profile, and streams so you will need to go through the process of releasing each song again (you will get all your tokens back though).
Just follow these steps to request a deletion of your Distro account:
Open a new support chat and choose the option to "Fill Out Ticket ✍️"
Select "Delete Distro Account"
Create a new ticket
We will process tickets in 1-2 business days.
Option 2: Contact all stores
If you don't want to lose your streams and tokens, you must log in to every Store's artist portal (except for Spotify, which we can take care of) and modify your artist name there or, if that is not supported, contact the Store’s support team and request an artist name change yourself (you can find portals for Apple Music for Artists, Amazon for Artists, YouTube, Soundcloud, Audiomack accounts, etc.) Once you have confirmation from each store, then contact [email protected] and we will redeliver all your songs.
The downside here is that it's a lot of work and time to get all the stores to change your name. We also cannot guarantee that the stores will make those changes for you all the time. You will however preserve any existing stream.
