Once you have released your first song and it's on Spotify, you'll want to update your profile image and artist page. Here's how to get access!
Once you get your Artist URI, you'll need to visit https://artists.spotify.com/claim to claim your page directly through Spotify. You should come to a screen like this:
Select "Artist or manager" to continue to claim your profile.
Next, Spotify will ask you to log in. You need to have at least a free Spotify account to use Spotify for Artists. Go ahead and log in or sign up. (the email doesn't need to be the same as the one connected to your Rapchat or Distro email)
Once logged in, you should be presented with this page:
Click continue to move on to the page where you will input your Spotify Artist name:
If your artist profile doesn't appear, then it's likely Spotify hasn't had enough time to get this artist profile created for you, even though your release has already been ingested. Try again in a day or so, and it should work just fine.
If you are successful then you will be asked for a business email address. Feel free to use a personal email if you don't have one (or go ahead and create a new email).
Then they will ask you to fill out your billing country under "Team details" (for tax purposes). Just choose the location you live in. And then you fill in your name and role (choose artist). You can leave the company blank (that's for managers, labels, etc).
Finally, you will get a screen asking for you to connect one of your artist's Instagram account to verify you identity.
If you don't have access to the Instagram account, or if the account is inactive or recently created, you can also give them links to more of your websites. Any of the following will work:
A link to an official artist website that includes the email address you’re using to claim your Spotify artist profile (the business email you added)
A link to a social media channel that shows the email address you’re using to claim your Spotify artist profile. The most helpful links are to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, MySpace, or Bandcamp.
They may also ask you to verify the UPC of your release, which you can find in the release detail for any song in the Distro Hub.
A few things to bear in mind:
All links need to be set to public for us to view them.
The email address should be clearly visible.
The content on the website or social media channel must match the content on Spotify.
