How do I distribute my song?

Easy! Just go to your song library and tap the distro icon (or tap the three-dot menu > "Distribute to Streaming"). You can typically expect a song to be live within a week, but often much sooner.

How do I see the status of my releases?

You can check the status of your song by clicking on it within the Distro hub. Song releases go through the following steps:

  1. In Review: We inspect each release to look for common issues that may get a song rejected by stores. This includes making sure that titles are formatted correctly, the artwork follows guidelines, and detect if a song is infringing copyrights. If there is an issue we reject the song and provide an explanation so you can fix it (you'll see "Action Required" alert in the release detail).

  2. Processing / Live: Once the release passes review, it gets sent to all the stores for release. Each store takes different amount of time to go live and you can see the status of each if you tap "View All." You'll see whether a song is Processing, Live, Rejected, or Taken Down. Tap on any store if you want to learn more about the status.

What songs can be distributed?

Any songs that shows the distro icon next to them are eligible because they meet the following criteria:

  1. Greater than 30 sec - streaming platforms require songs to be greater than 30 sec

  2. Either recorded over Distro Beat OR Imported - all imported songs are eligible for distribution as long as you have the rights to release the song. For songs recorded in Rapchat, producers decide whether or not a beat is distro-eligible. If it's NOT eligible, you can usually purchase a beat license directly from the producer (look for the "Buy Beat" button on the detail page).

What is a Distro Beat?

Distro Beats have been cleared for limited distribution through Rapchat without needing to pay an upfront beat license. In exchange, producers get 50% royalties, streaming analytics, and closer access to artists. Only songs created and distributed through Rapchat are eligible, otherwise they still require a standard beat license.

How do I see streaming analytics?

The Analytics page is currently under construction but will soon show you the streams by song, geography, and store. We expect this to be live in January.

How do I get my royalties?

In the Distro Hub is a payments page that will display all monthly royalty statements. Once you have generated royalties (typically 2-3 months after the stream) you'll need to make sure your Paypal email is updated.

Are there fees to keep my song up?

No! If you purchase a Distro Token ($0.99 - $4.99 depending on volume) we'll keep your song up without any ongoing fees. Other platforms require you to pay an ongoing subscription or give up your royalties but we won't charge you anything else to keep your song up after you buy the token.

How can I reach out with feedback or questions?

We really appreciate your feedback and thoughts. Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions you have!
